TODDLER ROOM (18 mths - 2 years)

Young children at this age take enormous pleasure in learning new skills and it is vital that adults around them praise and encourage them throughout. The play experiences planned for toddlers have children’s social relationships as a central focus to help support their growing sense of themselves and to encourage self-confidence.

Language skills are developing at a great pace and the adult role is key, not only in helping them explore and imitate language but also to recognise and be aware that a young child’s understanding can be much greater than their ability to express through language their thoughts and ideas.
