About Us

The Village Nursery is part of our group of six nurseries, all sharing the same vision, educational ethos and approach to working with children and families.

outstanding logoWe strongly believe in seeing children as individuals. Our ethos is to work closely with and build meaningful relationships with families. By respecting that all children are different and they come to our nursery with unique experiences of family, friends and their world, we are able to build upon this to support each child to make friends and build relationships at nursery.

You are key in how we care for and work with your child. From the settling in process as a baby and at each stage of transition through nursery life to toddlers, preppies and pre-school, children who see warm and authentic interactions between a parent and the adult caring for them at nursery, soon learn that that adult can be trusted and can be relied upon for a cuddle, comfort or as a play partner. Our strong belief is that we can best meet the needs of children, parents and our team by listening to what they have to say about nursery. You will find many opportunities to tell us what you think and how we can improve right from the start. From the settling in process all the way through to the day your child leaves us, confident, happy and extremely well prepared to start school.

We were delighted to be graded as OFSTED Outstanding in all areas in 2013. You can read our OFSTED report by clicking here or on the logo to the right.

Julie Lightley, Owner/Director

Early Years Teacher, BA (Hons) Early Years Studies, currently studying MA Education (Early Years)

My role is very much about facilitating our teams to deliver the best in early years care and education. Working closely with Emma Jones, we are constantly on-hand to support Rebecca and her team. Being in regular contact and visiting often means I know the many fantastic opportunities Rebecca provides at nursery for children and the close relationships she’s developed with our families at The Village.

Emma Jones, Operations Director

Early Years Teacher, Post Gradute Certificate of Education, currently studying MA Education (Early Years)

Working closely with Julie, we ensure that Rebecca has everything she needs to deliver first class childcare in a beautiful learning environment with an outstanding team of practitioners. My teaching and leadership experience means I can provide mentoring and guidance to support Rebecca to continue to meet all the requirements of her role.

Rebecca Moore, Nursery Manager

Level 4 & studying towards Foundation Degree

Having been at The Village Nursery for 19 years I think it’s safe to say I love my role as Nursery Manager!
I am very proud to lead a wonderful team of practitioners who all share the same vision of making The Village Nursery a happy, safe and stimulating environment to be in. My team and I are dedicated to building outstanding relationships with all of our families ensuring we form a unique and strong partnership throughout their time at nursery.

Claire Oxley, Assistant Manager

Level 3, studying towards Foundation Degree

As the Assistant Manager I support Rebecca in the day to day running of the nursery. I love to meet new families joining our setting and particularly enjoy supporting the team ensuring a smooth transition during the settling in period. I have extensive knowledge working with all age groups and I am able to adapt my skills and knowledge to successfully support each age range that I work with, including both the children and the team.

Leanne Powell, Early Years Teacher

Masters Degree (New Leaders in Early Years), BA (Hons) Politics, Early Years Professional Status

Working at the Village Nursery as the Early Years Teacher, I love getting to know all of our children and their families across the whole setting. Within my role I am lucky to be able to spend time in all of our rooms supporting both the children and staff. I devote a lot of my time to introducing and developing lots of initiatives for the staff, including the roll out of Tapestry, our online learning journey system.

Emma Sweeney, Baby Room Supervisor

Level 3 & studying towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management

I have worked with babies for over 10 years and although I enjoy working with all age groups this is where my passion is. I am particularly passionate about attachment theory and helping children and their families make secure connections within the setting. I am often the first point of contact as I make all of the arrangements for the home visits, usually attending myself and supporting my team with the extensive experience I have in this area.

Jess Foran, Baby Room Supervisor

Level 3

I have worked in both baby rooms at The Village Nursery for the last eight years, supporting lots of babies and their families as they begin their journeys with us. Having recently become a new mummy myself, I have first-hand experience of caring for young babies and apply my own knowledge and experiences into my daily role. Recently promoted to Daisies Room supervisor, I look forward to growing and learning within my new role and providing continued support for the children in my care.

Vicky Mehmed, Toddler Room Supervisor

Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management

I am the supervisor for one of our toddler rooms (Ladybirds). I love my role and feel I bring lots of energy and creativity to a very active group of toddlers. I enjoy all things messy which makes me a great fit for this age group as we all love to explore. I love to support others and I thoroughly embrace my role as mentor to a number of the team, sharing my knowledge and experience to help benefit others.

Charlotte Baker, Toddler Room Supervisor

Level 3

Hi! My name is Charlotte and I have recently joined the Village Nursery Team as a Supervisor. I have lots of experience of working with the under-two’s and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience, along with getting to know all of the children and their families. I love developing activities that support learning through creative play, along with linking topics, children’s interests and planning into play too.

Siobhan Chandler, Toddler Room Supervisor

Level 3

I have worked at the Village Nursery since 2014 as a supervisor. I love all aspects of my role, but especially my strong partnerships with parents. I am always eager to encourage parents and carers to become involved in their children’s development, so I love to organise lots of different events and 'stay and plays' to support children’s interests, whilst getting family members involved too.

Naomi Karimi, Preppies Room Supervisor

Level 3

I find working with our group of 2-3 year olds is extremely rewarding. My team and I believe we have created the perfect environment for these busy little ones to grow and develop as they become even more quizzical of the environment around us. I thoroughly enjoy supporting children individually as we plan activities around their own interests and developmental needs. I am also a fantastic motivator and I constantly strive to bring out the best in my team.

Diana Ciccota, Pre-school Supervisor

Level 3

I have over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages. Although I love working with all age groups, pre-school is definitely where my heart lies! You can always rely on a pre-schooler to ask the most burning questions putting everyone on the spot…and if we don’t know the answer, we will always find out! I love the un-predictableness that pre-school offers and the learning opportunities that present themselves constantly. I love anything literacy based and I use my creativity and imagination during our extensive carpet time sessions.
